Coco Noir by Chanel was launched in 2012. Perfumers Jacques Polge and Christopher Sheldrake went back in time for inspiration. According to Polge, a fragrance can only be created because other fragrances preceded it. Therefore, Coco and Coco Mademoiselle were closely scrutinised. Its image was combined with Gabrielle 'Coco' Bonheur Chanel's penchant for black and Venetian baroque. The last ingredient was a touch of contemporary. Voila, Coco Noir was born. The citrusy top consists of bergamot, orange and grapefruit. At the heart are floral notes geranium, narcissus, rose and jasmine combined with peach. Woody notes predominate in the base: clove, benzoin, olibanum, white musk, vanilla, sandalwood, tonka bean and patchouli.
