Chanel No. 19 was launched in 1970. The fragrance is dedicated to Gabrielle Chanel's birthday: 19 August. Against the advice of her entourage, she asked Henri Robert to compose a fragrance. The perfumer developed a fragrance with a strong and distinct character.

In the top, green notes meet citrusy bergamot and neroli (orange blossom). The middle is a sultry bouquet of ylang-ylang, lily of the valley, rose, narcissus and iris. Leather adds a unique touch to the predominantly woody base.
